Words That Attract Clients
One of the biggest challenges for online start-ups is getting clients. After all, with no clients, there is no business. But how do you write copy to draw those clients to you?
Well, here’s a top tip I’d like to share with you that could really help with your copy-writing and attract your ideal client.
STEP ONE
First, make sure you are clear who your audience is! Without this clarity, everything else just won’t make sense.
STEP TWO
Think about the problem you can solve for them, what results will they get from working with you?
Now go to Amazon and search for books they might read. Look at the reviews. Notice the language in the reviews.
Read through the reviews and cut and paste some of the really good reviews into a word document. Now cut and paste bad reviews into the document
Look through all these comments and see how you can phrase a question to your ideal client. These words are words your ideal client will use.
Let’s look at an example:
If you want to teach people how to make ice cream, look at the best selling ice cream books here are some reviews I copied from Amazon:

Handy sized paperback. Recipes are easy to follow – thoroughly recommend Bramble Ice Cream and am looking forward to working my way through it especially as seasonal fruits become available. Great to have a section on healthier alternatives like Iced Yoghurts.

REVIEW TWO
Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars Brrrr-illiant!

Format: Paperback|Verified Purchase
Bought an ice cream maker (Kenwood IM200 1.1 Litre Ice Cream Maker and decided we needed a recipe book! Had one small shock when reading the recipes – a lot of them use cartons of custard and I do not like custard! Tried Chocolate Caramel Crunch for our first attempt at making ice cream and it was EXCELLENT – and I am delighted to say did not taste at all custard-y! If the other recipes are up to this standard, we will be extremely happy!

STEP THREE
So now that you have seen reviews, you can begin to think about how to use these to attract clients. So if you have an ice cream making a course to sell you might say:
- Are you looking an easy way to make ice cream?
- Would you like simple to follow steps to create yummy ice cream?
- Do you want to learn to make yummy ice cream and healthier options too?
- Do you want to create ice cream from seasonal fruits?
I would love to invite you to my one day course.. blah blah…
This is how you solve their problem. Does that make sense? This is a really fun exercise. You can really get an idea of how to speak to your ideal client.
Go forth and have fun!
Great information! Just listened to your interview on the Personal Development podcast ,then looked you up.
Love how you clearly communicate these steps but not patronising. It can be a difficult balancing act and you have achieved it.
